Heavy and luxurious, this gorgeous 15" French solid 18k specialty chain features a beautiful, buttery old gold luster crafted into long navette links with interior twists. It weighs in at a respectable 20.3 g and will feel simply decadent draped across your collar bone. Versatile and unique, we love how antique watch chains can be repurposed as modern day necklaces or worn as double wrapped bracelets. As the chain is substantial, the links remain in sturdy condition but avoid any abrupt tugs to keep the connecting links in good shape. As with any piece of antique jewelry, it will need to be treated with a certain level of care. The chain has been hallmarked with two horse heads and two rhino heads; these were departmental hallmarks in use from 1838. The horse head hallmark was discontinued in 1919 making it easy to identify the chain as an authentic antique piece. With a length of 15", it hugs the neckline closely but really looks lovely framing a classic black turtleneck. It has some oxidation to the bolt ring and a small piece of gold is missing from the closure, visible in photo nine. I've left the lovely antique patina for you to enjoy. The spring ring holds very securely but is difficult to open, however the dog clip clasp works perfectly and the chain can easily be attached by it. It would be a great addition to any chain collection, or a great staple piece if you are just starting out.
