Delight in this heavy, gorgeous 17" French solid 18k gold specialty chain. It has a beautiful, buttery old gold luster which is so unique to antique pieces. It weighs in at a respectable 19.00 g and will feel simply decadent draped across your collar bone. Versatile and unique, we love how antique watch chains can be repurposed as modern day necklaces. This one in particular has a great length with timeless links that feature very pretty interior floral designs. The links have been inspected for wear and remain in sturdy condition but avoid any abrupt tugs to keep the connecting links in good shape. As with any piece of antique jewelry, it will need to be treated with a certain level of care. The chain has been hallmarked with an eagle head guaranteeing at least 750 gold purity, the most common French hallmark for gold. It has some oxidation to the interior floral parts that helps bring out the features and stands as a testament to the age and authenticity of the piece. I've left the lovely antique patina for you to enjoy. It would be a great addition to any chain collection, or a great staple piece if you are just starting out.
CONDITION NOTES:
The spring ring and dog clip clasp are in excellent antique condition with good tension and alignment. The links are strong. There are light micro-scratches to the gold and some of the exterior arches are no longer perfectly symmetrical from wear and age. See photos and video for details. The dog clip clasp and spring ring are a slightly rosier gold than the buttery, yellow gold chain but this seems to be an intentional stylistic choice.
