18K Antique French Belle Epoque Locket with Beveled Glass Back, Victorian Pendant Mourning Locket

Guarding secrets preciously for well over one hundred years, this exquisite French locket features details which exemplify the skill and precision of the Victorian Era. The central oval has an applied green gold navette frame which is embedded with flower, delicately cradling a fine pearl. The top and bottom of the piece are adorned with symmetrical, scrolled embellishments. This piece is a rare gem, as the back has a thick, beveled glass in excellent condition which can be used to store a picture or special memento. It was almost once certainly a memorial locket but could be used as a sentimental locket to store dried flowers from a honey moon or a piece of lace from a baptism. A sentimental piece that has been preciously kept through the ages. The locket was clearly worn frequently as the bail of the locket bears some wear from the chain.
