18k Art Deco White and Yellow Gold Bi-Color Sleeper Earrings, Antique French Drop Earrings
18k Art Deco White and Yellow Gold Bi-Color Sleeper Earrings, Antique French Drop Earrings
These lovely Art Deco drop earrings feature a white gold shield which has been centered with an embedded natural pearl. The white gold has been textured and styled in a geometric design, typical for the era. These earrings were likely crafted at the intersection between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, around 1910. This style is known as a 'sleeper earring' as they were considered lightweight and comfortable enough for the wearer to sleep in. I wouldn't recommend sleeping in them nowadays as they often feature small and delicate hinges which will need to be handled with care but they are comfortable enough for a full day of wear. Featuring an early lever-back closure, the hook loops through the back of the ear and attaches to a rivet at the top of the earring. They are very strong and in excellent condition to hold these beautiful pieces securely.
