18k Gold Antique Religious Medal, Virgin Mary Gold Medal c. 1920s

This meticulously worked religious medal becomes more beautiful with each detail. It features 18k yellow and green gold, which has been applied as textured leaves which create a wreath around the Virgin in profile. She is draped in a delicate veil and a halo adorns her head, which has been decorated with stars. The back of the medal is engraved with initials from a baptism or communion and the date reads 14 Juin 1925. It is always impressive to see how a goldsmith was able to craft such a delicate portrait and so many numerous details in such a small space without modern tools. This medal is in excellent antique condition with only light micro-scratches to the gold and a slightly deformed bail, visible in photos and still in strong working order with many years of wear left if treated with care.
