18K Gold Edwardian Lily of the Valley Locket, Antique French Art Nouveau Locket Pendant c. 1900

We love antique jewelry for its history and uniqueness which is embodied by this Art Nouveau locket. Featuring an unusual clover design with a reed and crosshatch frame and engraved with a Lily of the Valley motif, it is a charming combination of many styles popular at the turn of the century. In Victorian times Lily of the Valley represented sweetness and humility, while the small seed pearls represent the tears of the Virgin. There are light dents and scratches to the locket, visible in photos, but nothing to take away from the loveliness of this darling piece. It closes well and has a back smooth for engraving. The bail has been reinforced which has removed the eagle head hallmark, but the locket has been tested in multiple places for 18k gold purity. A lovely locket for any occasion.
