18K Gold Vintage Rose Cut Perpignan Garnet Ring

This pretty antique piece is known as a Perpignan garnet or Catalan garnet ring. Perpignan garnets have a rich history dating back to the 17th century in the Roussillon region of southern France, where the city of Perpignan became renowned for its master craftsmanship in garnet jewelry. The intricate art of garnet cutting and setting has been passed down through generations, preserving its legacy. The garnet has beautiful oval shape with a rose cut and is backed in gold so that it shines beautifully with the the sunlight.
