18k Napoleon III Pendant Earrings, Mid-Victorian French Belle Epoque Earrings c. 1860

Crafted during the Victorian period, c. 1860, these lovely earrings feature a detailed design with green gold accents and a hanging ruby paste stone. Hallmarked with an eagle head, the earrings are crafted from high quality 18k gold which has a rich, rosy color. Using a simple fishhook earring wire, the earrings are more accessible than those which feature the back to front closure common during the period.
The details of the piece are truly stunning with a top "sleeper" portion that is decorated with a round floral embellishment. The drop pendant portion is decorated in a teardrop shape with a matching floral embellishment flanked by laurel leaves. The hanging ruby paste stone is securely held and adds an extra element of class and French chic. The earrings are not designed to be separated but move with the wearer beautifully and were created by a skilled hand so that each separate part stands on its own. They are a lovely reminder of the skill and craftsmanship of the era. Hallmarked with two eagle heads on a the fishhook, they are a solid piece for daily wear which can be dressed up or down.
CONDITION NOTES:
In excellent antique condition with a very lovely patina that only time can give. I've tried to do a very light cleaning as they have such a love rosy color. There is no eye visible wear to the paste stones.
