18K OMC Paste Earrings, Antique Victorian Paste Earrings c. 1880

Indulge in the elegance of yesteryear with our exquisite antique earrings, which were crafted from silver and gold in the late Victorian period around 1900. It was common in this time period to set stones in silver to reflect light back to the eye more effectively and give the appearance of a larger stone. These timeless treasures boast a generous old mine cut paste stone which measure 8 mm x 8 mm. Paste stones are common antique diamond substitutes of flint glass, cut by hand to mimic more expensive gems. Hallmarked with an eagle head, they bear the hallmark of the Paris assay office, ensuring a minimum gold purity of 18 karats. The lever back closures remain in impeccable condition, boasting a sturdy hinge for secure wear. These stunning earrings exhibit remarkable versatility, glistening brilliantly and gracefully shifting in hue from radiant white to a champagne, depending on the lighting.

CONDITION NOTES:
There is light wear to the facets under magnification, consistent with age and wear, but nothing which affects their charm. The paste stones are securely prong set with no danger of falling out. The lever-back closure is strong and latches securely. The hinges are in good condition.
