18K Rare Georgian Dendritic Moss Agate, Pearl, and Enamel pendant c. 1815
This rare small pendant was crafted in the Georgian period, circa 1815. Hallmarked with a rooster head, facing right, which was in use in the departments between 1809-1819. It features an oval moss agate which is surrounded by a frame of natural seed pearls and a halo of blue enamel.
Dendritic agate, or moss agate, is known for its tree-like inclusions resembling delicate ferns or branches etched in stone. Characterized by its translucent to opaque appearance, it was favored during the Victorian era for its natural beauty. Its organic patterns symbolized growth, renewal, and the harmony of nature, resonating with the sentimentalism of the era. Frequently sought after, they make a fantastic collectors item.
CONDITION NOTES:
The pendant is in excellent antique condition with all original pearls and enamel intact. The four bottom pearls have been glued in at a later date after being separated from the metal wire which attached them to the frame. They are stable but will still need to be treated with care as it is a very old pendant.
