18K Solid Gold Sapphire Gypsy Ring, Vintage French Dome Jonc Ring

Beautiful in its simplicity, this ring features a vibrant round cut blue sapphire in a gypsy setting. The ring is made up of solid gold which is domed and tapered. The back of the sapphire setting is open to allow light to pass through the stone, which it does to a brilliant effect, visible in photos. Hallmarked with an eagle head the ring is guaranteed to be at least 18k purity but I found no maker's mark. As this is such a classic design it's hard to date, but comes from the first half of the 20th century. It has all of the style and luxury of an antique piece with the finesse and practicality of modern minimalist design. It is a nice mix of the masculine and feminine as the design was originally worn by men but is now a unisex piece for every day wear. A great piece that can be mixed and matched with other rings and goes with any outfit.
