18K Solid Gold Vinaigrette Locket with Hinged Glass Partition

Guarding secrets preciously for well over one hundred years, this exquisite French locket features details which exemplify the skill and precision of the Victorian Era. The central oval has beautiful pierced vinaigrette scroll-work detailing. The top and bottom of the piece are adorned with symmetrical swirling embellishments. The locket is hallmarked with two eagle heads on the inside rim and closes with a satisfying snap. Inside, a central hinged beveled glass can be used to store a sentimental memento. These hinged glass partitions were often used as a reliquary to store a special photo or lock of hair to remember a loved on gone before. A sentimental piece that has been preciously kept in excellent condition through the ages.
CONDITION NOTES:
There is some denting to the back, consistent with age and use. All defects are visible in photos and act as a testament to the history of the piece. A breathtaking locket which makes a thoughtful gift for the antique lover in your life, or to treat yourself.
