This thick and heavy half guard chain features very unique twisted oval links connected by trace chain. Really beautifully decorated and in excellent condition despite its age. It was likely part of a longer Victorian chain that got cut down as styles changed but retains all of its original charm. It probably would be better worn as a long sautoir chain as it would likely be too small to be wrapped and worn as a choker, depending on neck size. Assayed in Paris and hallmarked with a boar's head, which guarantees between 800-900 silver purity. It is a lovely example of Victorian silver work, likely dating between 1890-1900, in very good condition with links that are strong.
