56" Silver Victorian Long Guard Chain with Twisted Links, Antique French Silver Muff Chain c. 1900

I've ever seen a long guard quite like this before. Coming in at 56", it is long enough to be wrapped two or three times over head and comes with a bolt ring in excellent condition with good tension and alignment. The links on this are extremely interesting. It's not a helix but a cylinder which has been carved it make it appear that all the pieces are twisted together. The interior has tarnished over time which has deepened the appearance of a three dimensional shape. It's beautifully constructed and executed. It has been hallmarked with a boar's head which guarantees at least 800 silver purity by the Paris assay office. The cylindrical link are connected by trace chain and everything is in good shape with strong links. It was originally paired with the pill box pendant also in shop, as pictured in photo ten.
