Antique 18K Amethyst Paste Floral Locket, Belle Epoque French Locket
Antique 18K Amethyst Paste Floral Locket, Belle Epoque French Locket
This stunning gold locket hails from the Grand Period (1861-1885) and features a beautiful amethyst paste (glass imitation) which is securely set with a halo of crown prongs and inlaid with a flower embedded with a seed pearl. Pearls were often used for remembrance as part of mourning jewelry as they represented tears. The locket has a clever side tab to help open the locket easily. No frame remains on the interior but you would be able to cut a picture to size and keep it pressed to the side. The details on the locket are outstanding and the green gold frame around the central oval, the crown prongs, and way the light filters through the amethyst all make this a truly outstanding piece.
CONDITION NOTES:
The locket is in excellent condition with light micro-scratches to the gold. The amethyst paste is in very good condition and the locket closes securely so that you don't lose any precious interior tokens. There is light denting to the back, visible in photos and the video.
