Antique 18k Art Deco White Sapphire Ring, White and Yellow Gold Engagement Ring c. 1920

Antique 18k Art Deco White Sapphire Ring, White and Yellow Gold Engagement Ring c. 1920

Luminous, beautifully crafted, and effortlessly chic, this engagement ring was made in France c. 1920 during the early Art Deco period. It features one of my favorite design elements of the era, in which white gold has been textured and is used to reflect the light around this brilliant old European cut white sapphire solitaire. The band of the ring is crafted from 18k yellow gold, hallmarked with an eagle head and visible in photo ten. The hallmark of the goldsmith, stamped with the initials B.C., is also visible. The ring is in very good condition, never resized, with only light micro-scratches to the gold. The sapphire is also in very good condition for age with no visible inclusions and no wear to the facets under magnification. It measures in at 4 mm across, which makes it approximately .25 carats in weight. It has a lovely silver shine that compliments the white gold halo very well. It would make a lovely, historic engagement ring or as a special treat to yourself. A very special piece that carries all of the design elements that make us fall in love with antique jewelry.
