This lovely Belle Epoque rose gold ring is a sight to behold! Clutched proudly in a secure buttercup setting is a chunky, twinkling old mine-cut diamond of approximately 0.19 ct. Popular from the beginning of the 18th century until the 20th, old mine cut diamonds have larger facets, a higher crown, and a smaller table to reflect the low light from candles. Cut by hand by a skilled lapidary each old mine cut diamond is unique with its own charm, shape, and sparkle. They are the precursors to the modern round brilliant cut but have a square, cushion cut shape. The band is crafted from shiny and high quality 18k gold, hallmarked with an eagle head in photo ten. The diamond is securely prong set in silver which rises up from around the rose gold buttercup halo. A lovely ring with that unbeatable old world charm.
