Dating from the turn of the 20th century, this luxurious drapery necklace has been crafted in the Art Nouveau style with seven decorative panels filled with an interior motif. Usually necklaces from this period feature very tiny, filigree designs or intricately worked flowers so it's fun to see something more substantial as a twist. This also makes the necklace very wearable and durable and would be great for a new mom or someone who wants to feel glamorous but also wants to avoid little curious hands grabbing delicate antique filigree. Crafted from 18k gold which retains its lovely, buttery old gold patina, it is amazing to think of each small piece being delicately wrought and then soldered together. Once adorning the neck of a very fashionable high society woman many moons ago, it would now make the perfect modern statement necklace. With a length of 44 cm it is perfectly positioned to be both comfortable and stylish. This style is known as a 'draperie' in French as it drapes across the collarbone bringing an effortless French elegance to the wearer.
