Antique 18K Gold Diamond Locket, Art Nouveau Belle Epoque Jewelry

This whimsical locket is a lovely piece crafted around the turn of the century c. 1900. Meticulously crafted, it opens from the top and remains deep enough to hold a trinket, pressed flower, or token. Pictures can also be cut to size and pressed into the side of the locket, held secure by the hinged frame. A unique design, it features a lozenge shape with hand crafted floral embellishments and centered with a cluster of nine rose cut diamonds set in platinum. They measure between 1.5 and 2 mm in diameter. This design element was typical of the period as white metals enhance the brilliance of the stones.

CONDITION NOTES:
The interior glass has been lost to time and the locket has a few small dents to the back, visible in photos and the video. The locket holds very securely but is a little difficult to shut. You will need to gently press the bottom of the locket towards the bail so that the top slips over the bottom to latch.
