Antique 18k Gold Dormeuse Earrings with Pearl Center

This lovely pair of late Victorian earrings have been crafted from 18k yellow and green gold and date back to the early 1900s. The earrings are centered with a natural seed pearl, set in a starburst. Part of the love and appreciation for antique pieces comes from the level of detailing which is rare to find nowadays, made even more impressive as they were crafted without the use of modern tools. We love the lightly engraved border around the raised center and the engraved details on the green gold leaves which decorate the central square. The earrings have an early lever-back closure which attaches into the rivet at the top. These earrings often take some practice to hook but hold securely. Slightly heavier and sturdier than other sleeper earrings of this style they make a lovely impression. There are light micro-scratches to the gold and tarnish, consistent with age and wear. The height of French chic, these earrings will hold a treasured place in your collection.
