Antique 18K Peridot and Diamond Duchesse Ring, Tiara Ring c. 1900
Antique 18K Peridot and Diamond Duchesse Ring, Tiara Ring c. 1900
This beautiful duchess ring features a large pear shaped peridot which is framed by buttery 18k gold flowers embedded with eleven diamonds. Despite weighing in at just under five grams, it is very comfortable for everyday wear and does not snag on clothing. The prongs are thick and heavy and hold the stones well. The peridot measures 7 mm x 4 mm and the largest diamond measures approximately 2 mm in size. I can't quite make out the hallmarks; it's possible some marks got removed as part of a resize making origin difficult to identify now. It looks like there is a "Y6" which would indicate Scandinavian origin as it is a date hallmark for 1901. It has been acid tested to verify 18k gold, which was how it was sold to us from a reputable auction house. This was a popular Belle Epoque style that remains a timeless reminder of why pieces from this period are so sought after today.
CONDITION NOTES:
There are light scratches to the peridot and one crack which extends to the surface, visible in photo ten. Our jeweler assured us the ring is well set and that if treated with care it has many years of life left. Nevertheless it has been priced own to reflect this default. It remains a gorgeous ring which will make an excellent statement.
