Antique 18K Sapphire and Diamond Art Deco Ring
Antique 18K Sapphire and Diamond Art Deco Ring
This lovely Art Deco ring centers around an oval cut deep blue sapphire, surrounded by a delicate halo of diamond chips and calibrated synthetic sapphires. Set in 18k white gold and platinum, the ring is hallmarked with an eagle head and a dog head on the band. The central sapphire weighs approximately 2 carats and measures 9 x 7 mm. Art Deco craftsmanship is both timeless and unparalleled. The details on the piece are just so pretty. The scalloped frame is reminiscent of a flower and the interplay of all the perfectly cut gemstones is a testament to the skill of a talented lapidary. True to the period, the gallery is also very beautifully designed. The September birthstone, sapphires have also historically been popular as engagement rings as they were meant to symbolize commitment and love. This price is an absolute steal as this exact ring was listed on The Knot's list of best oval engagement rings several years ago with an asking price of over 5,000 euros.
CONDITION NOTES:
One side of the shoulders has been re-soldered where it attaches to the ring face, visible in photos. The point is less finessed than on the other side, but not noticeable when worn. There is a slight scratch to the central oval facet, visible in photos but not visible when worn.
