Antique 18K Solid Gold Etruscan Revival Dangle Earrings, Stunning Belle Epoque Ruby and Pearl Drop Earrings c 1860

These eye-catching antique drop earrings are sure to turn heads. Crafted during the end of the Victorian period, c. 1860, they feature a lovely detailed Etruscan Revival Design. During the mid-Victorian period jewelers were heavily influenced by Greek and Etruscan art which brought new techniques and designs which have made this a unique and sought-after period for antique jewelry collection.
We can see the earrings are crafted from high quality 18k gold which has a rich, buttery color. Using a simple fishhook earring wire, the earrings feature a decorative bow inlaid with a ruby. The drop portion is decorated with a line of seed pearls which hold another prong-set ruby. The exterior drop of the earring features two circular frames, one which has a lovely gradation of gold inlaid into the frame, the other featuring decorative scroll work. The earrings move with the wearer beautifully and were created by a skilled hand so that each separate part stands on its own. They are a lovely reminder of the skill and crafsmanship of the era.
Hallmarked with two eagle heads on a the fishhook, they are a solid piece for daily wear which can be dressed up or down. They do have light signs of wear, consistent with age and use, notably one of the exterior frames has been soldered in two places where there were fissures and is no longer perfectly round. If you look closely you can see this in photos. As with all antique pieces they will need to be handled with some level of care but have many years left of life and are a sturdy and unique addition to any collection.
