These exquisite earrings are from the Napoleon III period, circa 1860. Elegant and practical, they feature a swan neck earring back which has a removable "pendant" drop portion which can slide on or off. The addition of the swan neck makes them easier to handle than many other earrings of this time period which have hinged sleepers on top. The pendant bottoms are true works of art with a teardrop frame decorated with a central pearl, below which hangs a realistic leaf embellishment. There is beautiful detailing all around as the leaves are meticulously crafted and textured to give a feeling of realism. They are an excellent addition to any collection.
CONDITION NOTES:
The earrings are in excellent antique condition with light micro scratches to the gold but nothing noticeable when worn or that takes away from their charm. The top sleeper portion is a lighter yellow gold color than the drop portion as they were mixed and matched. It adds a certain charm to the piece. They are hallmarked with an eagle head on the hook of the swan neck, visible in photo ten, and at the top of the sleeper portion.
