This absolutely stunning antique Victorian brooch will become a versatile favorite for your collection. Brooches are making a comeback due to their ornate designs and how well they create the finishing touch of a well considered outfit. Of course, you can wear brooches traditionally pinned to a collar or lapel, but they look stunning clipped to a piece of velvet and worn as a bracelet or choker necklace.
This particular brooch was crafted by skilled artisans at the end of the Victorian period and features beautiful design elements. The brooch is created to resemble a flower with a pearl center. The outside petals have been heavily engraved over a lovely bloom finish which creates a matte gold appearance. The center, by contrast, has a high gloss finish which has a simpler engraved pattern leading to the half seed pearl center. The pearl is in good condition for age and is securely attached.
The back of the brooch contains an original c-clasp which is hallmarked wit ha horse head, a rare hallmark which was in use only from 1838-1919 and which guarantees antique provenance. Just a word of caution: antique brooches had a c-curved clasp and no safety element, so just be careful when moving about. Brooches add the perfect touch of elegance to any outfit.
