Antique 18K Solid Gold Victorian Belle Epoque Locket of French Origin, XIX Century

Eye catching and beautifully crafted, this antique locket is bursting with details and charm. On the front a flower is beautifully crafted and set with natural pearls. Victorians loved symbolism and the pearls were representative of tears. The top and bottom of the locket add some drama with a beautiful scrolled design. These lockets were often sentimental in nature and stored a lock of hair or picture from a loved one. I always love to put dried flowers in my lockets but it could also hold gem stones or anything else that needs to be guarded preciously.

CONDITION NOTES:
The locket is in good condition with light micro-scratches consistent with age and light deformities to the gold frame. The closure is secure and despite the lockets age it closes with a satisfying 'click'. It is hallmarked by two eagle heads on the interior rim. The frame on the top and bottom are fragile, so handle gently.
