Antique 18K Solid Gold Victorian Onyx Mourning Locket, Belle Epoque Napoleonn III Pendant
This stunning gold locket hails from the late Victorian period and features a beautiful onyx which is securely set with a halo of crown prongs and inlaid with a gold flower and seed pearl. Pearls were often used for remembrance as part of mourning jewelry as they represented tears. The interior of the locket has a hinged glass partition which has a clever tab which can be used to move the glass from one side to the other to protect a special photo or memory. The details on the locket are outstanding and the green gold frame around the central oval, the crown prongs, and braided gold frame around the exterior all elevate the piece into something truly special and unique.
