Antique Art Nouveau Silver Thistle Locket of French Origin c. 1900

Antique Art Nouveau Silver Thistle Locket of French Origin c. 1900

This pretty thistle slide pendant mirror is from the Art Nouveau period and dates from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Thistles represented endurance and strength as their ability to flourish in difficult conditions associated them with resilience. The pendant features one interior mirror with a beveled glass frame while the opposite side has the original green velvet. The thistle motif is visible on both sides with light wear to the silver consistent with age; there are some micro-scratches and very small indentations, but nothing noticeable. It would look simply delightful on a long guard chain but is sure to turn heads however it is worn.

CONDITION NOTES:
The mirror is well attached to the side and the mirror is very shiny with few signs of wear and age. The pendant closes securely and does not open when worn.
