Antique Belle Epoque Emerald and Pearl Toi et Moi Ring c. 1900

Delicate and refined, this beautiful piece makes the perfect stackable ring. Featuring an emerald and a natural pearl, accented with rose cut diamonds, this lovely ring was crafted at the end of the 1800s. The crossing emerald and pearl are designed in the 'toi et moi' style, or 'you and me'. Popularized by Napoleon who gifted his betrothed Josephine a diamond and sapphire toi et moi ring, it symbolizes the union of two souls and became widespread during the Belle Epoque period. The band of the ring is crafted in 18k buttery, yellow gold. The emerald measures approximately 4.10 mm in diameter with a depth of 2.5 mm for an approximate carat weight of 0.2 carats. The pearl has a diameter of approximately 5.45 and is securely prong set. The ring would be perfect as an anniversary gift for a couple born in May and June as emerald is the birth stone for May while pearl is the birth stone for June. An eagle head hallmark is visible on the band, visible in photo ten, guaranteeing at least 18K gold purity.

CONDITION NOTES:
As pearls have poor stability, it is advised to avoid exposure to any chemicals or cleaners which might damage the nacre. Emeralds are also prone to breakage so it is best to avoid ultrasonic cleaners and clean only with a cloth. The ring is in good condition for age but has been visibly resized at least once. It is hallmarked on the band with an owl for resale and an 18k gold guarantee.
