Antique Belle Epoque Old European Cut Diamond Toi et Moi Diamond Bow Ring with Platinum and 18K Gold c. 1900

Belle Epoque jewelry has a romantic and feminine charm that makes it a timeless and sought after choice. Featuring two lovely old European cut diamonds in a secure setting, it was crafted around 1900. The ring is designed in the 'toi et moi' style, or 'you and me'. Popularized by Napoleon who gifted his betrothed Josephine a diamond and sapphire toi et moi ring, it symbolizes the union of two souls and became widespread during the Belle Epoque period. This ring is further embellished with the intricate and elaborate construction of a bow, centered with a rose cut diamond. The bow was a popular Belle Epoque choice as it was inspired by motifs popular during the reign of Louis XIV. The band of the ring is crafted in 18k yellow gold and the ring is accented with platinum to better reflect the light from the diamonds.

The old European cut diamonds measures approximately 3.5 mm across, for approximately .35 carats. They are further accented by eleven rose cut diamond chips, measuring approximately 1-1.5 mm in diameter. While this would make a fantastic engagement ring, it is also would make a great statement choice for daily wear.

CONDITION NOTES:
The ring has normal wear for age and has light micro-scratches and oxidization to the gold. The band is hallmarked with both an owl and a mascaron, indicating it has been crafted both from 18k gold and platinum. See photo ten for details. The ring has also been resized and has solder marks from where it was cut, visible in in photos five and ten but not visible when worn.
