Antique Belle Epoque Opal and 1 carat OMC Diamond Tiara Ring c. 1900

This gorgeous Belle Epoque beauty is a find for anyone that struggles to find antique rings in a larger size. Crafted from 18k gold and platinum around 1900, the ring is made in the romantic tiara style with three old mine cut diamonds forming a cluster above and below a luminous opal. The diamonds are cut generously, with high crowns and small tables, measuring between 3-3.2 mm across with four additional smaller rose cut diamonds (1.5-2 m mm) along the band. In total they weigh approximately 1 carat. The diamonds are set in platinum as it was typical for the period to set diamonds in a white metal to enhance the appearance of their size and brilliance. The opal cabochon is facing north-south and measures about 10 x 7 mm for approximately 1.2 carats. The ring has a yellow gold band and is hallmarked with a mascaron and an owl, although both hallmarks are well worn and I can only recognize them because I've seen so many. This style is so romantic and makes a lovely statement piece.

CONDITION NOTES:
The stones are in very good condition for age and the diamonds and opals are securely set. You'll want to take the ring to a jeweler every few years to make sure everything is still holding on securely as stones can become loose with regular use. The ring has been resized once, probably to be enlarged, at some point during its history.
