This gorgeous antique ring was crafted around the beginning of the 20th century and is a product of that time period as it features one of the first synthetic gemstones. The showcase of the ring is a stunning central synthetic blue spinel, which was first created when French chemist Auguste Verneuil developed the Verneuil process. This innovation revolutionized the jewelry industry by making beautiful blue spinel, ruby, and sapphire more accessible while maintaining its striking appearance. The spinel is surrounded by a mixed halo of rose cut diamonds and old 8/8 single cut replacements which look to be quartz. The band of the ring is buttery 18k yellow gold. The central stone measures approximately 9 mm x 7 mm with an estimated carat weight of 1.93 , while the head of the ring measures 16 mm x 12 mm.
CONDITION NOTES:
The ring is in good condition for age with light micro-scratches to the gold and some wear to the facets visible in photos and the video. Originally all of the halo stones were rose cut diamonds but five of these have been replaced for 8/8 cut quartz imitation stones.
