Antique French 18K Solid Rose Gold Vinaigrette Locket c. 1880

This exquisite antique locket was crafted around 1880 with a great deal of care and attention to detail. It features a prong set natural pearl surrounded by delicate engraving and a pierced vinaigrette. Gold often contained different alloys than might be found in modern lockets. This, combined with the patina of time, often gives a unique color. This locket has a nice rosy gold appearance with yellow gold embellishments. The interior holds a unique beveled glass partition, typical for French lockets and rare to find elsewhere. It is more aesthetic than practical as the glass often gets stuck to the side and doesn't stay in one place.

CONDITION NOTES:
This locket weighs a substantial 14.3 grams, a testament to its craftsmanship and enduring value. The glass gets stuck inside the front of the locket, behind the vinaigrette, making it more aesthetic than practical, but can be gently removed with a needle or something else thin. The hinges are strong and the locket closes well with a click.
