Antique French Aesthetic Silver Locket with Opening Beveled Glass Back c. 1880
Antique French Aesthetic Silver Locket with Opening Beveled Glass Back c. 1880
This darling silver locket features a beautifully etched floral bouquet with Forget-Me-Not flowers rising up through the center, complimented by a spray of Lily of the Valley. The size, shape, and style lead me to believe it was crafted around 1880. Featuring an extremely unique design, the back lifts up on a hinge of thick beveled glass to reveal room for a sentimental keepsake. As the locket is quite large it would be possible to put a memorial trinket or special memory. The locket is hallmarked with a boar's head around the beveled glass rim, indicating at least 800 silver purity.
CONDITION NOTES:
The locket is in excellent condition. It has recently been polished and doesn't contain any dents or large scratches. The hinge is in very good working order and the glass closes securely without any notable wear.
