This lovely pair of late Victorian earrings have been crafted from 18k yellow, white, and green gold and date back to the early 1900s. The earrings are centered with a natural grey seed pearl, set in a raised starburst. Part of the love and appreciation for antique pieces comes from the level of detailing which is rare to find nowadays, made even more impressive as they were crafted without the use of modern tools. We love the use of different types of gold to decorate the earrings, each piece of which has been engraved and carefully crafted in its own right. Similarly, the detailing to the openwork lace frame brings into focus how even areas which are not visible still retain a high level of craftsmanship and beauty. The earrings have an early lever-back closure which attaches into the rivet at the top. These earrings often take some practice to hook but hold securely. Slightly heavier and sturdier than other sleeper earrings of this style they make a lovely impression.The height of French chic, these earrings will hold a treasured place in your collection.
CONDITION NOTES:
Some of the lacework border has been damaged through time and use, visible in photos, but this is not visible when worn. There are light micro-scratches to the gold and tarnish, consistent with age and wear. The hinges are strong and in good condition with a secure latch.
