Antique French Filigree Drapery Necklace c. 1900 (20 g)

Dating from the turn of the 20th century, this luxurious drapery necklace has been crafted in the Art Nouveau style with seven decorative filigree panels filled with a timeless interior filigree motif. Crafted from 18k gold which retains its lovely, buttery old gold patina, it is amazing to think of each small piece being delicately wrought and then soldered together. Once adorning the neck of a very fashionable high society woman, it would now make the perfect modern statement necklace. With a length of 45 cm it is perfectly positioned to be both comfortable and stylish. This style is known as a 'draperie' in French as it drapes across the collarbone bringing an effortless French elegance to the wearer. A very original feature, the filigree panels have elegant and elaborate rope accents and have been crafted to look three dimensional. The necklace has been hallmarked with a rhino head, indicating at least 18k gold. It's hard not to fall in love with this beauty for its sweet details, luxurious material, and skilled craftsmanship. CONDITION NOTES:
The closure has good tension and alignment so you won't lose this lovely statement pieces. The links show wear consistent with age, there is no wear to the filigree, and just light micro-scratches to the gold. You will want to avoid any sudden tugs or pulls as this is an antique piece which will needed to be treated with care.
