Antique French Gold Filled Shaker Locket, Victorian Glass Sentimental Locket

So named because they were originally used to carry loose gemstones which would 'shake' as the wearer moved, this shaker locket is a beautiful relic of the past. The frame has been crafted from a rich gold fill with copper undertones. The panel on the front of the shaker locket is easily opened and closed with a well functioning hinge. The glass on the piece is in very good condition for age with light scratches to the glass but nothing visible when worn. I found no repairs or damages, but some gold loss and weathering of time, all consistent with age and wear. You can be creative about what you would like to store inside: gemstones, a pressed flower from a wedding bouquet, a piece of lace from a baptism. The locket is deep enough to be able to hold something unusual, or would look lovely on its own as well. They are very difficult to find in such excellent condition nowadays due to the fragility of the design. A beautiful piece of history which has been a guardian of memories for over 100 years.
