Antique French Silver Countryside Art Nouveau Locket

This unique small silver locket is from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It features a beautiful flowing design on the front with a central cartouche, perfect for personalization or engraving. The reverse has a lovely pastoral scene carved in. We wonder if this was a sentimental reminder of someone's village who moved far away from home. The interior is gold washed and shines beautifully in the sun. It has tarnished with time which adds depth and warmth. The exterior is in excellent condition, very shiny, and with no notable wear. The locket closes, but not with a snap. It could still be used to store a special memory as it does not open when worn.
