Antique French Silver Necklace Chain, Vintage Belle Epoque Necklace

This beautiful silver chain can was likely cut down from a long guard chain at some point in its long history. Featuring navette links with raised centers connected by trace chain, it is the work of a talented silversmith. Jewelry from this period was built to last, and we see that in the thick and high quality work the chain represents. The links are strong and in excellent condition. The chain closes with a dog clip clasp at the neck which closes securely with good tension and alignment. The length makes a lovely 'ras du cou' as it gracefully skims the collarbone. As the chain has been cut down with time it no longer bears a hallmark but has been acid tested in multiple places for minimum 800 purity, typical for the period.
