This lovely pair of early 20th century earrings is a true testament to the artistry of a bygone era. Created from solid 18K gold before the advent of modern tools, these earrings stand as a testament to a level of detail that is truly a rarity in today's world. The hallmarks on the piece are in excellent condition and it's possible to trace their creation to Joseph Balme, a Paris jeweler in operation between 1905-1909, located close to Place de la Republique. This is in line with the horse head hallmark, a hallmark in use from 1838-1919. The early lever-back closure can be a little difficult to get used to at first as the hinge threads through the back of the ear and attaches to the rivet at the top.
CONDITION NOTES:
The hinges are strong and the earrings are in good condition with micro-scratches to the gold. One of the earrings has a few small dents, visible in photos and the video.
