Antique Georgian Three Stone Rose Cut Diamond Ring c. 1830

This lovely three stone diamond ring has passed through time from the late Georgian period, making it over 200 years old. The central diamond measures approximately 4 mm x 3 mm across while the upper and lower diamonds measure approximately 3 cm x 2.5 cm. The ring is crafted from 18K buttery yellow gold and the diamonds are securely held in place with a bezel setting. The diamonds are foil backed, a technique used to reflect light and enhance the brilliance of the stone. As the ring is very old it will need to be treated with care and must take care to take off the ring when washing hands or showering to avoid getting the foiling wet and affecting its condition.

A relic from the Georgian jewelry period (1714-1837), named after England's George I-IV, this ring is a rare find in such excellent condition. The ring bore no hallmark when it came to me, as the ring had been resized at some point and the hallmark removed. It is now stamped with an owl by the guarantee bureau in Paris for re-sale. The beautifully crafted band is a uniquely large size, which cannot be resized without risking damage to the foiling.

CONDITION NOTES:
The ring has been re-sized at least once in its long history, visible in pictures. The diamonds have eye visible inclusions. There are micro-scratches to the band of the gold. The foiling has aged and some of the diamonds are lightly brown but still reflective and a beautiful example of craftsmanship of the era.
