Antique Gold Filled Earrings, French Brisseur Earrings c. 1900

Antique Gold Filled Earrings, French Brisseur Earrings c. 1900

These pretty sleeper earrings were crafted in France at the end of the Victorian period, circa 190. They feature a beautiful etched design of flowers in an oval frame. . As solid gold was an option only available to the very wealthy, gold filled day and night earrings became a popular choice for the growing middle class. These earring are made from thick and high quality gold fill and feature a small repeating engraved pattern which is the same on the sleeper and the pendant.

CONDITION NOTES:
The hinges still work very well and the latch closes securely. There is light but noticeable gold loss to the earrings as they have weathered many years, so do be careful if you have metal allergies. The latch can take some getting used to as it utilizes an older system in which the hinge threads through the back of the ear and latches at the top of the earrings at the rivet in the top.
