This beautifully refined and sweet guilloche hand-painted locket is striking in every way. The intricate engine turned pattern shimmers softly in the light and is finished with small, hand painted pink roses connected by ribbon. The reverse is likewise beautifully decorated with a guilloche wavy pattern in a repeating circle. Set in a round, silver frame the locket closes and opens from the top very securely. Inside you can find an original photo frame with a yellow cellulose protective cover. The interior of the locket has a soft golden glow from the vermeil overlay. Likely Swiss in origin, it is hallmarked with a weevil in a rectangle frame for imported silver. It is a very beautiful and unique piece that shows excellent craftsmanship of a bygone era.
CONDITION NOTES:
Excellent antique condition. There is only one remaining frame and there is some light interior tarnish which is visible in photos and stands as a a testament to the history of the piece. The locket closes securely with a click and the enamel remains in excellent condition with no accidents.
