Antique Napoleon III French Amethyst Paste Etruscan Revival Earrings c. 1880

These breathtaking antique French amethyst pendant earrings were created in the Napoleon III period and feature two large round amethyst paste stones surrounded by a crimpled bezel. Amethyst paste is a type of colored flint glass. Paste has been used for centuries as gem substitute and are convincing imitations. Not detachable, the bottom hangs beautifully from the top and is fixed securely. They retain the original fishhook backing and are hallmarked with an eagle head, visible in photo nine. The closures make for easy every day wear and the earrings are not heavy.

CONDITION NOTES:
The stones have wear normal for age and use. Nothing serious but light scratches to the facets not visible when worn.
