These stunning Perpignan earrings feature a round rose cut garnet which is foiled to reflect light. A technique popular in the Catalan region, these rich, deep burgundy earrings turn fiery red when they hit the sunlight. Often passed down from mother to daughter, it is rare to find them for sale as the foiling on the earrings is delicate and they often stay within families. The earrings are a lovely size in the ear and feature a thick sleeper closure which threads through the back of the ear and attaches to the hole in the front. They often take a bit of practice to get attached but the hinges are strong and the closure is very secure so you won't lose these beautiful statement pieces. The earrings are hallmarked with two eagle heads, guaranteeing at least 18k gold purity. The garnets are in excellent condition with no eye visible scratches or chips to the earrings but the foiling on on earring is less brilliant than its pair. Be careful not to get the earrings wet as that damages them. There is light tarnish to the back of one of the earrings, visible in photos. A lovely and rare piece that you've been waiting to add to your collection.
