Antique Sapphire and Diamond Art Deco Pompadour Daisy Ring c. 1925

This exquisite early 1900s French ring features a natural, unheated midnight blue sapphire, set in a halo of mixed cut diamonds. The sapphire boasts a deep blue hue, beautifully complemented by the bright, chunky glitter of the diamonds, which collectively weigh approximately 1 carat. The sapphire measures approximately 9 x 8.75 mm for approximately 3.56 carats while the diamonds rang in size between 2-3 mm each. The sapphire is possibly Australian origin as it has a high iron content and inclusions consistent with Australian origin but it has not been lab tested.

The ring showcases a classic French design with its halo setting and diamonds set in white. This element was typical of the period to help reflect the light around the diamonds and enhance their brilliance. This style is very popular in France, where sapphires are perceived as a subtle and chic choice. The ring, found at a reputable estate seller in Paris, bears hallmarks for 18k gold and platinum. The ring face measures 19 mm by 16 mm, with a height of 7 mm off the finger.

CONDITION NOTES:
The ring is in excellent antique condition with light wear to the facets around the table. The sapphire is natural and unheated with natural inclusions. It boasts a deep blue hue, almost black. The diamonds are in excellent condition and vary between old mine cuts and transitional European cuts. I suspect some diamonds may have been included from an older piece. The ring has not visibly been resized and is hallmarked with an owl and mascaron.
