This stunning Art Nouveau silver locket features a mistletoe wreath on the front and reverse. Mistletoe, although associated now with romance, was given in France during the New Year as a "porte bonheur" or good luck charm. You can see the silversmith's work from the interior, where the design is lightly tarnished making the it really stand out. Using a classic early 20th century top open design, the locket closes securely to hold your special memories. One frame has been lost to time, but the other remains. It no longer has the glass or cellophane pane but can be used to lock a photo into the side. A remarkable, beautiful historic piece that really showcases the beauty of Art Nouveau style.
CONDITION NOTES: In very good antique condition, the locket closes with a snap and has some light micro-scratches to the silver and light tarnish. The hinge is a little loose and as such the two faces can slide around a bit at the edges, but the hinge is not in danger of coming apart. Please see the video for details.
