Antique Silver Victorian Bangle Bracelet

The details on this piece are just marvelous. The front features a mixture of engraving and rose and green gold accents. The romantic design mixes a combination of flowers, flying birds, and a ribbon-like drop banner. The back is smooth and shiny. Crafted from high quality 800 silver, the bracelet is hallmarked on the box clasp. The box clasp closes with a satisfying snap although the hinge has been bent with time and use. This does not affect the stability or security of the piece. The bangle is thick but can be worn comfortably. It does have some patina on the interior band but remains shiny and an absolutely lovey example of craftsmanship of the time. As is often the case with jewelry from the era, the bracelet is on the small side, so it good to verify with measurements. It fit me well and I have an average wrist size (6 1/4") so it is not prohibitively small.

CONDITION NOTES:
The bracelet is hallmarked with a rather rare silver import hallmark, a weevil in an oval frame. This was used for silver jewelry only from 1864 to 1893, significantly narrowing down the date of production. There are signs of use and wear, consistent with age, such as small dents and scratches, especially to the back of the bangle, visible in photos.
