Antique Solid 18k White Gold French Bangle Bracelet with Romantic Ivy motif c. 1920

This elegant and romantic antique bangle bracelet is engraved with an ivy motif on the front band. As with many antique pieces, there remains a hidden message with the choice of ivy as a motif. The allure lies in ivy's romantic symbolism, woven into its tendrils that lovingly embrace a wall. In France, this symbolism finds expression in the phrase "Je m'attache ou je meurs," which can be poetically translated as "I will cling to you or I will die." The back of the bange iss smooth, typical of the time, and the bangle closes with a very strong box clasp, in excellent condition. Inside the box clasp and visible in photo ten, the bracelet is hallmarked with two eagle heads, guaranteeing a minimum of 18k gold purity.

The bracelet is in excellent condition with light micro-scratches and one small dent to the back, consistent with age and use. See photos and video for more details.
