These breathtaking antique French pendant earrings were created in the second half of the 19th century, circa 1880.
The top "sleeper" portion features a flat cut garnet which measures three mm across and centers a beautifully crafted floral design. The matching bottom dangle is centered by a garnet measuring four mm across. The garnets are a very beautiful purplish red. The earrings are finished with a practical shepherd's hook which make putting them in and taking them out very easy. Most earrings from this era feature a more complicated lever-back closure which goes through the back of the ear and attaches at the top, so this is a practical deviation.
CONDITION NOTES:
The earrings are in very good antique condition with light micro-scratches from age and use. There are two conchoidal fractures on the sleeper portion of one of the earrings, not visible when worn.
